MUMBAI: Motorola is turning the volume up on tablets. The company has started selling the moto pad 70 groove in India, pitching it as an entertainment-focused tablet with a nine-unit JBL Pro Speaker System, a 12.1-inch 2.5K display and a large 10,200mAh battery.

The tablet is available at an effective starting price of Rs 32,999 and can be bought through Flipkart, Motorola’s online store and leading retail outlets across India. It comes in an 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration, with storage expandable by up to 2TB via microSD.

The moto pad 70 groove’s headline feature is its nine-unit JBL Pro Speaker System, comprising four tweeters, three woofers and two passive radiators. Motorola says the setup is designed to deliver room-filling audio with deeper bass and clearer vocals.

The speakers also support Dolby Atmos, while Bluetooth Speaker Mode allows the tablet to double as a wireless speaker.

For users consuming content in different languages, the tablet also includes Live Transcript, which provides real-time translation across more than 40 languages.

The audio system is paired with a 12.1-inch 2.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and the DCI-P3 colour gamut, along with a High Brightness Mode of up to 800 nits.

That combination is aimed squarely at movies, gaming and streaming, while also catering to online classes, browsing and everyday productivity.

Motorola has also equipped the moto pad 70 groove with a 360° Kickstand 2.0, offering four viewing modes: Lean, Stand, Theatre and Hanging.

Lean Mode is designed for writing, sketching and note-taking, while Stand Mode can be used for video calls or as a digital photo frame. Theatre Mode offers a hands-free setup for watching content, while Hanging Mode is aimed at use in kitchens, during workouts or while travelling.

The tablet also supports portrait and landscape orientations, with the viewing experience adapting automatically.

Under the hood, the moto pad 70 groove is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Motorola is positioning the combination for smooth multitasking, streaming, gaming and everyday productivity. AI features include Google Gemini, Circle to Search with Google, AI Notes, AI Writing Tools and Smarter Reader. Smart Connect is also included for connecting the tablet with compatible devices.

The tablet runs Android 16 and is promised OS upgrades up to Android 18, alongside four years of security updates.

The device packs a 10,200mAh battery, which Motorola claims can deliver up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming on a single charge. It supports 45W TurboPower charging, with the company claiming up to two hours of battery life from a 10-minute charge.

Despite the large battery and built-in kickstand, the tablet has a 6.8mm profile and an all-metal design. It is offered in a PANTONE Blue Surf finish.

With its combination of large-screen entertainment, JBL-powered audio, AI features and long battery life, the moto pad 70 groove is clearly aimed at consumers who want a tablet to pull double duty as a portable cinema, speaker and productivity device.
