Onida appoints Gunjan Srivastava as CEO and managing director
Board also names Manish Desai CFO as leadership revamp takes shape
MUMBAI: Changing the channel isn’t just for televisions sometimes the boardroom needs a new programme too. Onida Electronics has unveiled a leadership reshuffle, appointing Gunjan Srivastava as chief executive officer and managing director while making fresh board-level appointments as part of its long-term growth and governance strategy.
The company’s board has approved Srivastava’s appointment with effect from 4 July 2026, subject to shareholders’ approval. He has served as Onida’s chief executive officer since February 2026 and will now take on the additional role of managing director.
As part of the transition, Kaval Mirchandani will continue on the board as whole-time director, stepping aside from his previous position as managing director. Onida said the move is intended to ensure leadership continuity while strengthening the company’s governance framework.
The board has also approved the appointment of Manish Desai as chief financial officer, whole-time director and key managerial personnel, effective 4 July 2026, subject to shareholders’ approval. Desai brings nearly three decades of experience spanning corporate finance, capital allocation, governance, business transformation and investor relations.
Commenting on the leadership changes, Srivastava said the company is entering a new phase where governance, operational discipline and strategic agility will play a central role in driving long-term growth. He added that the realignment is designed to strengthen innovation, improve operational performance and create sustainable value for stakeholders.
Srivastava brings more than three decades of leadership experience across consumer technology, electronics and retail. Before joining Onida, he served as Chief Executive Officer of BSH Home Appliances Group UK from 2020 to 2026, following leadership roles as CEO for India and Head of Asia Pacific. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at Sennheiser, Philips, Apollo Health and Lifestyle, Gillette India and Wipro Consumer Care, building expertise across marketing, business transformation and global operations.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where he completed his MBA, and IIT (BHU) Varanasi, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Srivastava now takes charge as Onida looks to sharpen its competitive edge in India’s evolving consumer electronics market.
With a refreshed leadership structure and a stronger governance focus, Onida is signalling that its next chapter will be driven as much by boardroom strategy as by product innovation.
