DELHI: Burgers are getting a backstage pass. Wendy’s India has opened its flagship restaurant in Delhi’s Hudson Lane, transforming the outlet into a community-led destination that combines food with music, anime culture and immersive events aimed at Gen Z consumers.

Operated by Rebel Foods under the master franchise agreement, the new flagship sits in the heart of GTB Nagar, a popular student hub, and reflects the brand’s strategy of turning restaurants into cultural spaces rather than just dining destinations.

The celebrations begin on July 10, when visitors can sample Wendy’s newly launched Teriyaki Burger range free of charge, alongside giveaways and meet-and-greet sessions with the brand’s mascot.

The flagship will then host Wendy’s Buns & Bars on July 12, a live rap battle celebrating India’s growing hip-hop scene. Organised in collaboration with rapper Naam Sujal, runner-up of MTV Hustle Season 4, the competition will feature ten finalists shortlisted through online auditions. Winners will receive cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, along with exclusive Wendy’s merchandise and complimentary meals during the event.

The festivities continue on July 18 with an Anime Fans Meetup inspired by the new Teriyaki Burger range. The restaurant will be redesigned with Japanese-inspired décor and host cosplay contests, fan activities and exclusive Teriyaki-themed merchandise, including T-shirts and bucket hats. Cosplay winners will also receive cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000.

Commenting on the launch, Rebel Foods assistant vice-president, marketing Mohit Mahajan said, “Delhi has always been a key market for Wendy’s India, and Hudson Lane, with its vibrant student community and dynamic food culture, is the perfect home for our flagship restaurant.”

He added that the outlet has been designed as a space where music, fandom and global flavours come together, allowing customers to engage with the brand beyond its menu through experiences such as Buns & Bars and the Anime Fans Meetup.

The new restaurant also supports Wendy’s India’s broader expansion strategy, which combines globally inspired menu innovations with locally relevant cultural experiences. Operated by Rebel Foods, the brand currently has more than 200 locations across India through a mix of dine-in restaurants and cloud kitchens, as it looks to deepen engagement with younger consumers through food-led entertainment experiences.
