Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tie the knot in star-studded New York wedding
Madison Square Garden hosts the highly anticipated ceremony after months of speculation
NEW YORK: It was a love story, and this time, everyone knew the ending. Global pop icon Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially married after exchanging vows on Friday evening in a closely guarded ceremony at Madison Square Garden, ending months of speculation surrounding what many had dubbed “America’s royal wedding.”
Privacy took centre stage throughout the celebrations. Rather than opting for a traditional estate or luxury resort, the couple transformed Madison Square Garden into a fortress. The arena’s enclosed structure, underground access routes, privacy tents, covered walkways and heavy drapery shielded guests from public view and aerial cameras. Outside, giant purple screens eventually lit up with the message “JUST&T MARRIED!”, confirming the couple’s union.
Adding a personal touch to the ceremony, family friend Adam Sandler officiated the wedding. The couple skipped traditional bridesmaids and groomsmen, instead asking Austin Swift to serve as Taylor’s Man of Honor and Jason Kelce to stand beside his brother as Best Man. Both choices were confirmed by Swift’s spokesperson following the ceremony.
For the occasion, Swift and Kelce wore bespoke couture by Christian Dior, complemented by custom footwear from Christian Louboutin, underscoring the understated elegance of an event that balanced luxury with remarkable secrecy.
The celebrations unfolded across two days. An intimate rehearsal dinner hosted around 100 close family members and friends on Thursday was followed by a lavish reception for approximately 1,000 guests on Friday evening that reportedly continued into the early hours of Saturday. A strict no-phone policy and comprehensive non-disclosure agreements for guests, staff and vendors ensured that very little emerged from inside the venue.
Those spotted arriving included Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Ed Sheeran, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes, along with several members of the Kansas City Chiefs. Also seen entering the venue were Bradley Cooper, Jack Antonoff, Gigi Hadid, Emma Stone, Hugh Grant and Ethan Hawke.
Outside the venue, hundreds of Swifties gathered behind police barricades despite soaring summer temperatures. While few caught even a glimpse of the newlyweds, the atmosphere remained festive as fans celebrated from afar, adding to the sense that the wedding had become a citywide event.
Ahead of the celebrations, reports also said the couple quietly donated a combined $26 million to charities supporting food security, education, children’s healthcare and animal welfare, reinforcing a philanthropic gesture before their biggest personal milestone. While the donations have been widely reported, detailed official confirmation has been limited.
Nearly three years after their romance first captured global attention, Swift and Kelce have turned one of the world’s most closely watched celebrity relationships into an equally unforgettable wedding. Even in an era dominated by constant social media updates, the couple proved that the biggest event of the summer could still be wrapped in secrecy until the moment they finally said, “I do.”
