MUMBAI: Maruti Suzuki is shifting into a higher gear, and the numbers suggest it’s cruising with confidence. India’s largest carmaker reported a 19.2 per cent year-on-year rise in total vehicle sales for June 2026, fuelled by robust domestic demand, rising SUV sales and continued momentum in exports.

According to a stock exchange filing, Maruti Suzuki India sold 200,390 vehicles in June, up from 167,993 units in the same month last year.

Domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales climbed to 147,187 units, compared with 118,906 units in June 2025. Including passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and OEM supplies, the company’s total domestic sales rose to 157,622 units, up from 130,151 units a year earlier.

The strong performance also extended into the first quarter of FY27, with domestic passenger vehicle sales surging 33.4 per cent year-on-year to 525,228 units, reflecting sustained demand across Maruti Suzuki’s model portfolio.

Exports maintained their upward trajectory as well. Overseas shipments increased 13 per cent year-on-year to 42,768 units in June. During the April-June FY27 quarter, the automaker exported 124,736 vehicles, significantly higher than 96,972 units in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

Across segments, entry-level models such as the Alto and S-Presso recorded combined sales of 11,416 units during the month.

The company’s compact and mid-size portfolio, comprising models including the Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR, delivered combined sales of 63,815 units, reaffirming the enduring appeal of Maruti’s core hatchback and sedan lineup.

Utility vehicles continued to lead the charge. Models including the Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Tour H1 and XL6 registered combined sales of 61,726 units, a sharp increase from 47,947 units in June last year.

The latest figures underscore Maruti Suzuki’s strong start to FY27, with healthy domestic demand, growing export volumes and sustained appetite for utility vehicles helping the company maintain its lead in India’s highly competitive passenger vehicle market.
