iPhone 17 series may cost up to Rs 35,000 more in India: Report
Leak suggests Apple could raise iPhone 17 prices by up to Rs 35,000 in India
MUMBAI: The next iPhone may not just upgrade your camera, it could also upgrade your bill. Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series is tipped to arrive with a sharp price increase in India, with the top-end models expected to cost up to Rs 35,000 more than their predecessors, according to a Moneycontrol report citing tipster Sanju Choudhary.
The reported revisions span the entire upcoming lineup, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. If the leaked prices hold true, the steepest hikes will be reserved for Apple’s premium Pro models.
According to the leak, the base iPhone 17 could be priced at around Rs 94,900, compared with the current Rs 82,990. The iPhone 17e is expected to increase from Rs 64,900 to Rs 74,900, while the iPhone Air may debut at Rs 1,34,900, up from Rs 1,19,900.
The biggest jump is expected at the flagship end of the range. The iPhone 17 Pro, currently priced at Rs 1,34,900, could cost between Rs 1,54,900 and Rs 1,69,900. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max may be priced between Rs 1,84,900 and Rs 1,99,900, compared with its current price of Rs 1,49,900.
The report suggests the potential increase could be part of a broader pricing reset by Apple. The company has already raised prices for several products in India, including select MacBook models, iPads and the HomePod, signalling a shift in its pricing strategy.
While Apple has so far avoided major price hikes across its iPhone portfolio despite rising component and supply chain costs, the recent increases in other hardware categories suggest the company may now be extending that approach to its flagship smartphones.
Reports also indicate that the strategy could continue beyond this year’s launch, with future generations, including the iPhone 18 series, also expected to see higher pricing.
Consumers may still find some respite through promotional discounts. E-commerce platforms such as Flipkart are expected to offer limited-time deals during festive sales, with the upcoming Flipkart GOAT Sale likely to feature reduced effective prices on select iPhone models.
Apple has not officially announced pricing for the iPhone 17 series. The reported figures are based on market leaks and remain unverified until the company unveils the lineup.
