Retailer earns place in the 2025 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 rankings for corporate value

GURUGRAM: Vishal Mega Mart has secured a place in the 2025 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500, featuring among the top five retail brands in the annual list of India’s 500 most valuable companies.

Compiled by Hurun India in collaboration with Axis Bank’s Burgundy Private, the ranking recognises companies based on their value and highlights businesses driving India’s economic growth.

Commenting on the recognition, Vishal Mega Mart’s managing director and chief executive officer, Gunender Kapur, said, “We are pleased to be featured in the 2025 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 List. It reflects the trust that millions of customers across India place in us and the dedication and hard work of thousands of our employees in our stores, warehouses and offices across the country.”

The recognition comes as Vishal Mega Mart continues to expand its nationwide footprint. The retailer currently operates more than 800 stores across over 535 cities, offering fashion, general merchandise and FMCG products targeted at India’s young and middle-income consumers.

The company said its portfolio of 26 private labels contributes around 75 per cent of its overall revenue, underscoring the growing importance of in-house brands to its business model.

Beyond its physical retail network, Vishal Mega Mart has expanded its digital presence through its quick commerce initiative, which is now available in more than 500 cities and serves a registered user base of 14 million.

The retailer also highlighted the scale of its customer engagement, with 169 million members enrolled in its loyalty programme, making it India’s largest customer loyalty programme and the 12th largest globally. Earlier this year, the company also featured in the Kantar BrandZ 2025 Most Valuable Indian Brands list.

The latest recognition reinforces Vishal Mega Mart’s growing position in India’s organised retail sector as it continues to expand its reach through a combination of value-focused retailing, private brands and digital commerce.
