Galeries Lafayette Mumbai to host Monaco Grand Prix-inspired luxury weekend event
F1 showcase car debut, live race screening and immersive luxury experiences planned
MUMBAI: Luxury retail is shifting into high gear as Galeries Lafayette Mumbai prepares to bring a slice of Monaco to the city with a Formula 1-inspired weekend experience on June 7.
The flagship store will host the Mumbai debut of the Oracle Red Bull Racing 2026 showcase car, alongside a live screening of the Monaco Grand Prix. The event aims to blend motorsport, fashion, beauty and entertainment into a single immersive experience.
The showcase car will be displayed outside the store, marking a major attraction for motorsport fans in the city. The live race screening will further extend the Monaco theme, bringing the atmosphere of one of Formula 1’s most iconic weekends to Mumbai.
Beyond racing, the event will feature interactive experiences including racing simulators, reaction-based challenges, live music and curated food and beverage offerings. The aim is to recreate the energy and glamour associated with the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
Inside the store, the luxury beauty floor will host a series of brand-led activations. Guests will be able to participate in a Gucci Beauty masterclass, explore fragrance experiences with Chloé, and take part in personalised makeovers and scent profiling sessions. Givenchy will also present a bespoke cookie activation, while Chloé will offer a themed iced tea experience.
Speaking on the initiative, Galeries Lafayette Mumbai chief marketing and growth officer Apeksha Gupta said, “At Galeries Lafayette Mumbai, we believe the future of luxury lies in bringing people together through shared passions and cultural moments.”
She added that today’s consumers are seeking experiences that foster connection, discovery and belonging, with the store aiming to serve as a platform where fashion, beauty and global cultural moments come together.
As luxury retail continues to move beyond transactions towards experience-led engagement, the Monaco Grand Prix-inspired showcase reflects a broader shift in how brands are reimagining in-store experiences. With motorsport spectacle, curated luxury and interactive storytelling, Galeries Lafayette Mumbai is positioning itself as a cultural destination as much as a retail space.
