Veteran pharma leader steps up after driving growth across key therapeutic units

MUMBAI: A prescription for growth has earned a fresh promotion at one of India’s leading drugmakers. Manoj Dimri has been elevated to the role of group business head at Cipla, marking the latest milestone in a pharmaceutical career spanning more than 25 years across sales, business leadership and commercial strategy.

Dimri announced the promotion on LinkedIn, describing the appointment as both a proud moment and a reminder of the responsibilities that come with leadership. Reflecting on his professional journey, he credited colleagues, mentors, leaders and teams who played a significant role in shaping his growth over the years.

In his new position, Dimri will take on broader business responsibilities at Cipla after serving as business unit head since September 2022. During that period, he oversaw business growth, sales strategy and team performance across key therapeutic segments.

Sharing his thoughts on the promotion, Manoj Dimri said, “Proud and humbled to share that I have been promoted to group business head at Cipla.” He added that the milestone had prompted him to reflect on the opportunities, challenges and learnings that defined his career, while also recognising the support of colleagues, mentors and stakeholders who contributed to his journey.

Dimri said leadership comes with the responsibility to inspire teams, nurture talent, make strategic decisions and create meaningful impact for patients and healthcare professionals. He also expressed gratitude to those who had supported him throughout his career and said he looked forward to the new chapter with humility and enthusiasm.

Before joining Cipla, Dimri spent more than 17 years at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, where he steadily progressed through a series of leadership roles. His tenure included stints as medical representative, field sales officer, district sales manager, zonal sales manager, senior zonal sales manager, sales manager and ultimately business head, a position he held from 2018 until 2022.

His pharmaceutical career began in 2000 at East India Pharmaceutical Works, where he worked as a medical representative in New Delhi. Over the next two decades, he built extensive expertise in sales operations, market development and business management across multiple regions of India.

An alumnus of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, where he studied biology, Dimri’s journey from frontline sales roles to a senior leadership position highlights the long-term value of experience, consistency and people-focused leadership.

As Cipla continues to strengthen its presence across therapeutic categories, Dimri’s elevation underscores the company’s confidence in home-grown leadership talent. For the seasoned executive, the appointment marks not only recognition of past achievements but also the beginning of a new chapter with greater responsibilities and opportunities ahead.
