Riedel Networks changes the signal as Gudrun Scharler takes charge
Veteran telecoms leader succeeds Michael Martens as CEO after 14 years of growth
Germany: The leadership signal at Riedel Networks is getting a major refresh. The company has appointed seasoned telecommunications executive Gudrun Scharler as its new CEO, succeeding Michael Martens, who has steered the business since 2012.
Announced by the Riedel Group on tuesday, the transition marks the end of a remarkable 14-year chapter under Martens, who will remain involved until the end of August to ensure a smooth handover.
Scharler arrives with an extensive leadership résumé spanning some of Europe’s biggest telecommunications and technology companies. Her career includes senior roles at Unitymedia, where she served as chief operations officer, as well as leadership positions at Nets Group, E-Plus, Sunrise Communications and Telefónica Germany. More recently, she expanded her experience beyond telecoms with leadership roles at Canyon Bicycles and P2 eBike GmbH.
Taking the helm, Scharler said she was excited to build on the company’s strong foundations while continuing its transformation journey. She highlighted Riedel Networks’ customer-first culture, agility and collaborative spirit as key strengths she intends to preserve as the business enters its next phase of growth.
Her predecessor leaves behind a sizeable legacy. When Martens took charge in 2012, Riedel Networks generated €2.8 million in revenue and employed just 12 people. Under his leadership, the company expanded significantly, growing to €24 million in revenue and a workforce of 70 employees while strengthening its position in secure networking and IT security.
As one era signs off and another logs on, Riedel Networks appears set to keep its connections strong only now with a new voice on the line.
