NEW DELHI: Full throttle and breaking records, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has posted its highest-ever monthly sales, driven by robust domestic demand and healthy export momentum.

The country’s largest carmaker reported total sales of 242,688 units in May 2026, surpassing all previous monthly records. Domestic sales also reached a new high of 193,535 units, while exports climbed to 41,914 units. Sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) stood at 7,239 units.

The standout performer was the company’s utility vehicle portfolio, which includes the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, e Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris and XL6. The segment recorded sales of 79,267 units, up sharply from 54,899 units in May 2025.

Passenger cars also delivered a strong showing. The compact and mid-size portfolio, comprising models such as the Baleno, Swift, WagonR and Dzire, contributed 81,555 units, compared with 61,960 units a year earlier. Meanwhile, entry-level models Alto and S-Presso registered 16,275 units, more than doubling from 6,776 units in the corresponding month last year.

Overall passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market reached 190,337 units, up from 135,962 units in May 2025. Including light commercial vehicles, domestic sales rose to 193,535 units, representing growth of nearly 40% year-on-year.

The company’s export business also remained on a fast lane, growing to 41,914 units from 31,219 units a year ago, reinforcing Maruti Suzuki’s position as one of India’s leading passenger vehicle exporters.

For the first two months of FY27, Maruti Suzuki recorded cumulative sales of 482,334 units, compared with 359,868 units during the same period of the previous financial year, reflecting broad-based growth across domestic and international markets.

The latest numbers underline Maruti Suzuki’s continued dominance in the Indian passenger vehicle market, with strong demand across hatchbacks, sedans and utility vehicles helping the automaker race past yet another milestone.
