Umesh Bansal quits Zee Studios to take charge as Managing Director and CEO at B4U/IVY
The senior executive moves on after shaping Zee Studios’ film strategy, joining B4U/IVY as the content industry’s leadership churn shows no sign of slowing
MUMBAI: Umesh Bansal is on the move. The senior media executive has stepped down from Zee Studios and will take over as managing director and CEO at B4U/IVY, in one of the more significant leadership shifts in India’s media and entertainment sector in recent months.
Bansal will remain with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited until 31st May, 2026, before formally stepping into his new role. During his time at Zee Studios, he was a key architect of the studio’s film strategy, expanding its footprint across both theatrical and digital platforms.
His arrival at B4U/IVY comes at a moment when content companies are racing to scale global distribution, forge new partnerships and build out diversified content portfolios. Bansal brings with him a broad sweep of experience across content creation, distribution and monetisation, precisely the toolkit B4U/IVY will be counting on as it looks to grow.
There are no quotes on record from either side, which is itself telling. In a sector where every appointment is usually accompanied by a volley of corporate enthusiasm, the silence suggests the move is still being managed carefully.
What is not in doubt is the broader trend. Senior leadership is moving fast across India’s media landscape, as companies scramble to put the right people in place before the next wave of consolidation, streaming competition and global content deals reshapes the industry all over again.
For Bansal, the corner office at B4U/IVY is the next chapter. The industry will be watching closely to see what he does with it.
