MUMBAI: Ganesh Khadye has been bumped up to director of broadcast engineering at JioStar’s Starsports division, a promotion that formalises his six-year run managing the technical machinery behind India’s biggest sports broadcaster.

The elevation, effective November 2025, crowns a career spent keeping live sport on air without a hitch. Khadye has been lead broadcast engineer for Stars Sorts since December 2019, overseeing everything from playlist management to digital terrestrial television outputs—the unglamorous but critical work that ensures cricket matches and football tournaments don’t vanish mid-stream.

He’s had a broad range of sports TV engineering exposure. At ESPN Star Sports between 2013 and 2022, Khadye helped shift the entire Star Sports network from Singapore to Mumbai, selecting channel automation systems and training operators on the peculiarities of sports transmission. Before that, he spent over a decade at Ten Sports Network in Dubai, keeping nine live channels running smoothly.

It’s been a long haul from his first job as a non-linear editor at Prabhat Marathi channel in 2001. Twenty-four years later, Khadye is now calling the shots for one of Asia’s most technically demanding broadcast operations.
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there,” Khadye said, keeping the motivational platitudes flowing.

After two decades of making sure the picture doesn’t go black during the crucial over, Khadye finally gets his name on the door.
