BBC to present 600 hrs of programming at Mipcom
LONDON: BBC Worldwide will present over 600 hours of new programming, from across the full range of BBC output, at the Mipcom TV programme market in Cannes. The event will take place from 10 to 14 October.
The lineup includes top quality drama, entertainment, natural history, science, music, history and children’s programming.
Byron leads the drama lineup — it stars Jonny Lee Millar and is the story of the ultimate rebel, Lord Byron, who became famous overnight. He is known to have revolutionised English poetry and scandalised London society. Byron is a BBC and A&E co-production.
In the show Pride , a live-action family drama, set against the backdrop of East Africa — real animals will be the stars. In this drama, a combination of natural history footage, cutting-edge animation, high profile voice cast and a script by Simon Nye, allow the animals to tell their own story.
Actors such as Oscar nominee Kate Winslet of Titanic and Iris, Helen Mirren of Gosford Park have have lent their voices to this project. Pride is produced by John Downer and is a BBC and A&E co-production in association with ProSieben.
The epic BBC Natural History series Wild Australasia will journey through time and space to explore Australasia’s natural wonders. From tropical jungles and vast shallow coral reefs to burning deserts and snowy mountains, wild Australasia will reveal its hidden secrets and explains why its wildlife and wilderness are so special. Produced by Neil Nightingale this is a BBC/Animal Planet/ABC Australia co-production.
In addition, BBC Science will present Body Snatchers.. The series will explore the revolting but fascinating world of human parasites — the inhabitants of our bodies who are the most successful predators on the planet. Through imagery, specialist footage, shocking facts and personal stories of parasite victims, the show uncovers the disgusting realities of these body snatchers. Body Snatchers is a BBC/TLC co-production and is produced by Helen Thomas, Alice Harper and Martin Belderson.
BBC History will present another show D-Day. The BBC has announced that it is planning a season of programming to mark the anniversary of World War II, which includes D-Day . This is the story of the largest military invasion and defence the world has ever seen.
Produced by Richard Dale of The Human Body and Walking with Cavemen, D-Day redefines the genre of drama documentary in factual storytelling.
New children’s programming from BBC Worldwide includes Carrie’s War. Carrie Willow and her younger brother are evacuated to Wales during WWII in this heart-warming, coming of age drama. Carrie’s War stars Pauline Quirke and Alun Armstrong and is produced by Bill Boyes.
Tackling the theme of religion will be the show Bible Mysteries. The programmes, use drama reenactments and CGI graphics, to explore great figures and events from biblical times. Did Joseph actually have a coat of many colours? Was Mary Magdalene really a prostitute? This series answers these questions. Bible Mysteries is a BBC/Discovery Channel co-production.

Rising Bharat Summit 2026 spotlights India’s global ascent
PM Modi keynotes two-day event with ministers, diplomats and icons in New Delhi.
MUMBAI: India didn’t just host a summit, it threw a coming-out party for a nation ready to own the global stage. The News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2026, held on 27–28 February in New Delhi, emerged as a high-octane platform for ideas, vision and strategic dialogue, uniting national leadership, global policymakers, industry titans, defence strategists and cultural icons under the theme “Strength Within”.
Prime minister Narendra Modi set the tone with a keynote that framed India’s resurgence as a reclaiming of lost potential built over generations. “In previous industrial revolutions, India and the Global South were merely followers,” he said. “But in the era of Artificial Intelligence, India is a partner in decisions and shaping them.” He highlighted the country’s thriving AI startup ecosystem and the recent AI Impact Summit attended by over 100 nations.
Union minister Piyush Goyal (Commerce & Industry) stressed India’s readiness to scale exports and deepen manufacturing, while Ashwini Vaishnaw (Railways, I&B, Electronics & IT) positioned technology and infrastructure as twin engines of growth, especially in AI and digital trust. Jyotiraditya Scindia (Communications & North East Development) revealed India’s ambition to lead in 6G through the Bharat 6G Alliance and partnerships with over 30 countries.
Global voices added depth: former Singapore Foreign Minister George Yeo called India’s development “self-sustaining” and strategically vital; ex-UK Chief of Defence Staff General Sir Nick Carter asserted India deserves a seat at the great powers’ table; and former US Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez joined ambassadors from Norway, Germany and Sweden in discussions on geopolitical realignment, sustainability and defence preparedness.
Other speakers included veteran investor Ramesh Damani, World Gold Council CEO David Tait, Vianai Systems founder Dr Vishal Sikka, DeepTech Bharat Foundation co-founder Shashi Shekhar Vempati, defence experts Rajesh Kumar Singh, Sunil Ambekar, Patrick McGee, Tom Cooper and Adrian Fontanellaz, plus cultural and sporting icons Kangana Ranaut, Saina Nehwal, PR Sreejesh, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mithali Raj, Anil Kapoor and Yami Gautam.
