‘Boomtown’ to debut on AXN 5 January
MUMBAI: After flagging off the new year with a non stop movie marathon, the action adventure channel will premiere new acquisition Boomtown.
A crime drama, which analyses a crime from the eyes of different people, will start airing every Monday from 5 January 2003 at 10 pm.

Recipient of the George Foster Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting 2003, Boomtown has been ranked number one in the The Best of 2002 TV listings.
A slickly shot NBC drama, Boomtown is a story of seven people, each from a different walk of life, including two world-weary Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) cops, an ambitious District Attorney, the hope-giving paramedic and the nervy newspaper beat reporter.
Mykelti Williamson
Each week, as a new crime takes place, each person recounts the incident as he or she saw it – like the missing parts of a puzzle – pieces of information about the crime as it took place.
As the series unfolds, the unsung heroes of Boomtown become heroes to the millions of people that they give hope to, and angels to the rest who seek comfort and understanding in the City of Angels.
The drama stars Donnie Wahlberg, Jason Gedrick, Neal McDonough and Lana Parilla and is directed by Emmy winner Graham Yost and Jon Avnet.
Neal McDonough
Speaking about his character as Detective Joel Stevens, Donnie Wahlberg says, ” Joel is as close to perfect on the outside as one can be. He’s smart, gifted, and professional. All of his flaws are hidden, and the challenge for him is to keep them hidden.”
Best known for his critically acclaimed role as Bubba in the Academy Award-winning film Forrest Gump Mykelti Williamson stars as Detective Bobby ‘Fearless’ Smith in the series.
Jason Gedrick
While Neal McDonough stars as the brash young DA David McNorris, never afraid to take on the bad element while hamming it up for the camera – all in the name of truth, justice and the American way.
Critically acclaimed actor Jason Gedrick, stars as disgruntled police officer Tom Turcotte, who’s disappointed at the way he had to take the rough road, and that another managed to cruise through.
Nina Garbiras
While that sums up the male cast, the female cast on the show includes Nina Garbiras as reporter Andrea Little.
Lana Parrilla
Angie Ordonez of Spin City Lana Parrilla, who starred opposite Charlie Sheen during the 2000-0l season, completes the seven people group as the paramedic Teresa Ortiz.
Brought on board to build up the drama band alongside espionage show 24 and CSI, Boomtown should be pivotal in building up the action and adventure channels lifestyle and fiction segment.

MUMBAI: Cupid’s arrow just got a plot twist and it’s heading straight for your TV screen. This Valentine’s Day, Zee Cinema is turning up the heat with the world television premiere of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, a raw, rule-breaking romantic drama that proves love doesn’t always come wrapped in roses.
Set to air on Saturday, 14 February at 8pm, the film stars Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, directed by Milap Zaveri. It dives headfirst into obsession, heartbreak, and the kind of unconditional love that leaves scorch marks. Rane plays Vikramaditya, a powerful politician whose all-consuming passion for actress Adaa spirals into chaos when his feelings go unreturned unleashing a storm of emotion, misunderstanding, and life-altering consequences.
The timing couldn’t be sharper. Audiences are clearly craving intense love stories over sugar-coated ones, and this film taps straight into that vein. Harshvardhan Rane already has a loyal fanbase from his cult hit Sanam Teri Kasam, which cemented his status as the go-to guy for heart-wrenching romance especially among younger viewers who keep the film on repeat.
Milap Zaveri captured the film’s beating heart, “This film is about love that doesn’t follow rules. Sonam Bajwa added her take, “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is not a conventional love story, it’s raw, intense and emotional. Valentine’s Day is usually associated with happy romance but this film explores love in its most vulnerable form.”
