MUMBAI: Children’s show Boohbah which airs in India on Pogo will spread its wings to China and South Africa.
The production company Ragdoll has signed a deal for the show with CCTV’s Youth channel. It will air twice a day at 9 am and 4:25 pm. In South Africa SABC2 will air the show for Monday to Friday at 2:45 pm.
For the uninitiated Boohbah is aimed at children between three and six years old anmd is intended to encourage kids to exercise. It premiered in 2003 on ITV in the UK and in 2004 in the US on PBS. It was created by Anne Wood, who also created Teletubbies . In fact, this show is somewhat a spinoff from Teletubbies, since it also has a science fiction theme.
The Boohbahs are five colourful atoms of energy and live in a glowing white ball of light, called the Boohball. They are Humbah, who is yellow Zumbah, who is purple, Zing Zing Zingbah, who is orange Jumbah, who is blue and Jingbah, who is pink. The Boohball, which is a glowing white ball, is the place the Boohbahs live. It travels from country to country when it is called by children. Inside the Boohball is a recharging pod, where the Boohbahs recharge energy. The energy is created by the laughter of the children when playing with the Boohbahs, the Boohball, and the Storypeople.
The Storypeople are two-dimensional characters that the children in the show play with and make stories with. These characters .include Grandmamma and Grandpappa.
