DirecTV to unveil first original series in January

MUMBAI: US satellite television operator DirecTV is all set to launch its first original programming series. The weekly show CD USA will debut in 2006 January.

According to the company, the musical programme will be available exclusively to its 15 million US subscribers. The show will feature live performances by popular music artists. News Corp is also leveraging its recent acquisition of the internet network Myspace.com by featuring emerging artists featured in the website in CD USA.

According to reports, News Corp. is also developing new cable networks which will be offered on DirecTV but will also be available on rival cable television systems.
