Nat Geo’s Gandevia receives Indo American Society’s Young Achiever Award

MUMBAI: NGC Networks, South Asia managing director Zubin Gandevia received the Young Achiever Award for 2005 at the sixth annual awards organised by the Indo-American Society (IAS).

Gandevia joins the rank of young achievers who have contributed to the development of people-to-people relations between India and the US and have made a significant contribution to their respective fields for a minimum of three years.

Held in Mumbai, the US Counsel General Michael S. Owen and his wife graced the occasion as chief guests.The evening saw a mix of celebrities from various disciplines encompassing business, industry, sports, entertainment come together.

Gandevia said, “It is a great honor to be standing here and I humbly accept this award from the Indo American Society. Prestigious forums such as these, which recognise and reward the efforts of individuals making a difference to society and cross border relationships, serve as a source of inspiration to younger generations in making that added effort.”

In his capacity as MD of National Geographic Channel, South Asia, Gandevia is responsible for running the business of the channel in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. Based on his success with National Geographic channel and The History channel, he will takeover as the managing director of NGC Networks for Asia in January of 2006.
