Manmohan Desai’s production house to swing into action under his son
MUMBAI: After almost a decade, Manmohan Desai‘s production house that spelt pure entertainment is being revived.
MKD Films, the banner which gave us legendary hits like Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb, Coolie and Toofan, is getting active again as his son
Ketan Desai and grand daughter Pooja Desai have firmed up a slate of movies.
The first venture of MKD Films will be a Marathi film starring Ashok Saraf, Subodh Bhave with Sonali Kulkarni as the leading lady. While Rajesh Deshpande will direct the film, Ketan will be the creative director.
If health permits, Shammi Kapoor will give the first clap to kick start the film on 25 April, it is understood.
Post the Marathi film, the banner will move on to produce Hindi films that will retain essences like family values and tradition as before.
After Manmohan Desai‘s demise in 1994, the production house slumped with just two releases – Deewana Mastana in 1997 and Yeh Hai Jalwa in
2002.

The list offers fans a weekly pulse on who is breaking through, who is holding steady, and who is fading. It is a barometer as unsparing as the box office itself.
