Cine and TV artistes to get new office soon

MUMBAI: The foundation laying ceremony of Cintaa Tower, a 16-stroreyed building for cine and television artistes, was recently held in the presence of Dilip Kumar, Aamir Khan and other film personalities.


The building, adjacent to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital near Lokhandwala Complex, will have its office on the ground floor, a medical floor, a preview theatre, rehearsal hall and a cafeteria.


The land for Cine & Television Artistes‘ Association (CINTAA) has been donated by the state government. Averred chairman of Cine Artistes‘ Welfare Trust Mithun Chakraborty, “The paper work is in place. We have also obtained clearance from the fire brigade and the civil aviation department. I expect the first phase of construction to be over in three years. All the actors have been more than helpful. If there is a need , we will seek the help of Aamir and others to help us raise funds.”


After the ceremony, Dilip Kumar announced a donation of Rs 1.5 million for the medical floor. “I am glad that the Association has faith in me,“ he said.


Speaking on the financial problems faced by out-of-work and senior artistes, Chakraborty said: “The trust has around Rs 25 million right now. Though some times it is difficult to shell out huge amounts to help, we strive to extend assistance to the needy at the earliest.”

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s popularity contest has a new weekly scorecard, and the numbers are telling. IMDb’s Popular Indian Celebrities list for this week places Shanaya Kapoor at number six, buoyed by buzz around her film Tu Yaa Main. Naila Grrewal slots in at seven on the back of the returning comedy series Maamla Legal Hai, while Rashmika Mandanna climbs to eighth, riding mounting anticipation for Cocktail 2.

The list, available exclusively on the IMDb app for Android and iOS, tracks trending Indian entertainers and filmmakers each week, drawing on data from more than 200m monthly visits to the platform worldwide.

Further down the rankings, Raaka is keeping two of its biggest names in the spotlight. Deepika Padukone holds 11th position, with Allu Arjun close behind at 13th, as the film continues to find traction with audiences.

The list offers fans a weekly pulse on who is breaking through, who is holding steady, and who is fading. It is a barometer as unsparing as the box office itself.
