Rituparno Ghosh retro highlight of Habitat Film Festival this week
NEW DELHI: A retrospective of renowned national award-winning director-actor Rituparno Ghosh will be the highlight of the Habitat Film Festival 2011 which will feature around 33 shorts and features from 14 May.
The festival will open with Ghosh’s ‘Just Another Love Story’,directed by Kaushik Ganguly and Ghosh. Other films in the retrospective are Abohoman, Bariwali, Antarmahal, Shob Charitro Kalponik, and the closing film Noukadubi (Boatwreck). All these films are in Bengali.
The Festival will be inaugurated by renowned filmmaker J P Dutta, who is currently in the capital as chairman of the National Film Jury for 2010. Rituparno Ghosh and renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who produced Noukadubi, will be present at the closing on 22 May.

Aravind.
Coinciding with the Festival will be three interesting films being screened for Habitat Film Club members: the full-length docu-drama ‘Spirit Of Moksha’ (Hindi) by Rajeev Gautam on the Kumbh Mela, I Am (English/Hindi) by Sonali Gulati about a foreign-based Indian lesbian who returns home, and a Short Film Festival. A showcasing of critically acclaimed short films from across the world with the collaboration of Shamiana.

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s popularity contest has a new weekly scorecard, and the numbers are telling. IMDb’s Popular Indian Celebrities list for this week places Shanaya Kapoor at number six, buoyed by buzz around her film Tu Yaa Main. Naila Grrewal slots in at seven on the back of the returning comedy series Maamla Legal Hai, while Rashmika Mandanna climbs to eighth, riding mounting anticipation for Cocktail 2.
The list, available exclusively on the IMDb app for Android and iOS, tracks trending Indian entertainers and filmmakers each week, drawing on data from more than 200m monthly visits to the platform worldwide.
Further down the rankings, Raaka is keeping two of its biggest names in the spotlight. Deepika Padukone holds 11th position, with Allu Arjun close behind at 13th, as the film continues to find traction with audiences.
The list offers fans a weekly pulse on who is breaking through, who is holding steady, and who is fading. It is a barometer as unsparing as the box office itself.
