Cartoon Network to air Barbie movies on Raksha Bandhan week

MUMBAI: Raksha Bandhan is round the corner and its that time of the year when girls receive gifts and goodies! To add to the excitement, Mattel Toys have lined up a special treat on Cartoon Network.
 
The toy major has lined up five stunning Barbie classics that will be aired on Cartoon Network from 15 – 19 August.


The blockbusters lined up are: Barbie as Rapunzel, Barbie in The Nutcracker, Barbie of Swan Lake, Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper, and to top it all the very latest Fairytopia.


Barbie as Rapunzel will be aired on 15 August at 6 pm. Starring as Rapunzel, Barbie discovers a magic paint brush and with the help of her dragon friend Penelope journeys out to unravel a world of deception, bring peace between two feuding kingdoms and find her love Prince Stefan. The movie features music by the London Symphony Orchestra.


Barbie of Swan Lake is a story all about magic, self confidence and true love. Where Barbie starring as “Odette” a brave young girl, discovers that with confidence and determination each one of us has the power to transform the world. The movie will be aired on 16 August at 6 pm.


In Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper, Barbie plays a double role as Princess Anneliese and maiden Erika for the very first time, in her own fairy-tale and helps girls discover true friendship and teaches girls about hope, self-discovery and the strength of love‘. The movie will be aired on 17 August at 6 pm.


Barbie in the Nutcracker teaches young girls that being kind, clever and brave pays off as one can achieve anything. Barbie stars as Clara wherein she starts off on an adventure with the Nutcracker to end the evil enchantment of the king Mouse. The movie will be aired on 18 August at 6 pm.


Barbie Fairytopia, which will be aired on 19 August at 6 pm, has Barbie starring as “Elina” a wingless but brave fairy embarks on a journey to conquer evil and save the flowers and the magical land – “Fairytopia”- a land that is the home of the fairies just beyond the rainbow in the sky.

Mukta Arts and Green Gold ink MOU to animate iconic film IPs

Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan to spawn animated shows plus features.

MUMBAI: When classic hindi movie meets animation, the result is a fresh reel of nostalgia with a cartoon twist. Mukta Arts Ltd. and Green Gold Animation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on animated shows and feature films drawn from Mukta Arts’ four-decade treasure trove of iconic IPs. The partnership taps Mukta’s SGM Animation Studio launched in 2025 as its dedicated animation and games arm and Green Gold’s proven track record in building scalable, homegrown franchises. Creative teams from both sides have already kicked off discussions, with the first project currently in development.

The slate will draw inspiration from landmark Mukta films including Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Saudagar and Iqbal, plus character-led spin-offs from those universes. The aim is to reimagine these stories for today’s young, global audiences while preserving their emotional core.

Green Gold Animation (home of Chhota Bheem) founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka said, “This partnership with SGM Studios allows us to apply our experience in building long-lasting animation IPs to a truly iconic film catalogue. Together, we aim to create animated worlds that are rooted in these legendary stories, yet designed to connect with today’s young, global audiences.”

In an industry where timeless tales never go out of fashion, this collaboration promises to bring beloved characters back to life with a modern, animated glow proving that some stories are too good to stay in live-action. Stay tuned for the first animated frame to drop.
