BBC Worldwide chalks out DVD releases to lure kids this Christmas
MUMBAI: With the festive season rapidly approaching, BBC Worldwide has lined up a slew of DVD releases for kids this Christmas. These include shows such as 3rd and Bird, The Sarah Jane Adventures and In the Night Garden.
3rd and Bird: A Very Squooky Christmas! will release on 9 November. This Christmas release sees friends find themselves in fun-filled adventures, from learning to ice-skate to their first expedition out of the tree to the ground.
The Sarah Jane Adventures: The Complete Second Series will allow viewers to join Sarah Jane and the gang in their quests to save the Earth from unspeakable dangers, including the Sontaran – a regular foe of the doctor himself.
In the Night Garden: What Fun!, meanwhile, will bring together five episodes of the pre-school favourites.
Children can dive back in to some imaginative fun with two new releases from Charlie and Lola, produced by Tiger Aspect. Their eleventh DVD, ‘Everything is different and not the same and other stories‘ showcases Lola learning some valuable lessons. Both Charlie and Lola releases will be available from 12 October.
The LazyTown Christmas Collection contains two festive-themed DVDs. The DVD includes the LazyTown karaoke and has seasonal episodes such as The Snow Monster and LazyTown‘s Surprise Santa.
Meanwhile, Robbie the Reindeer returns in Robbie the Reindeer Trilogy – The Whole Herd. All the three ‘Robbie the Reindeer‘ films are brought together on DVD, along with extras. Releasing on 2 November, this motley crew of antlered and downright bizarre characters are brought to life in state-of-the-art model animation and voices from a cast including Ricky Gervais, Sir David Attenborough and Keira Knightley.

Mukta Arts and Green Gold ink MOU to animate iconic film IPs
Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan to spawn animated shows plus features.
MUMBAI: When classic hindi movie meets animation, the result is a fresh reel of nostalgia with a cartoon twist. Mukta Arts Ltd. and Green Gold Animation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on animated shows and feature films drawn from Mukta Arts’ four-decade treasure trove of iconic IPs. The partnership taps Mukta’s SGM Animation Studio launched in 2025 as its dedicated animation and games arm and Green Gold’s proven track record in building scalable, homegrown franchises. Creative teams from both sides have already kicked off discussions, with the first project currently in development.
The slate will draw inspiration from landmark Mukta films including Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Saudagar and Iqbal, plus character-led spin-offs from those universes. The aim is to reimagine these stories for today’s young, global audiences while preserving their emotional core.
Green Gold Animation (home of Chhota Bheem) founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka said, “This partnership with SGM Studios allows us to apply our experience in building long-lasting animation IPs to a truly iconic film catalogue. Together, we aim to create animated worlds that are rooted in these legendary stories, yet designed to connect with today’s young, global audiences.”

In an industry where timeless tales never go out of fashion, this collaboration promises to bring beloved characters back to life with a modern, animated glow proving that some stories are too good to stay in live-action. Stay tuned for the first animated frame to drop.
