Mumbai, January 12, 2006: CNBC-TV18 and Autocar India last night announced the winners of the fifth edition of the CNBC-TV18 Autocar Auto Awards at a grand ceremony in the capital – New Delhi. Maruti Swift was adjudged the ‘Car of the Year’ among heavy weight contenders like Hyundai – Sonata Embera, Hyundai – Tucson, Ford – Fiesta, Toyota – Innova and Skoda Auto – Laura. The most prestigious of the Auto Awards, the ‘Car of the Year’ Awards put to test the latest and hottest cars in India to arrive at a car that satisfies all customer needs. All new cars in the twelve months prior to Dec 31, 2005 were eligible for the award. With nine new bikes launched last year making the buyer’s choice a tough one to make, the ‘Bike of the Year’ award helped ease the task of choosing the right bike.
