Castrol organises Autocar Performance Show in Mumbai

Mumbai, November 29, 2005: Bringing alive its promise of Liquid Engineering, Castrol, along with Autocar, is hosting a must-visit for automotive enthusiasts – The Castrol Autocar Performance Show 2005 will showcase some of the best and latest performance cars and motorcycles at the Nehru Centre, in Worli, between 1-4 December 2005.

The kings of performance will go all out. There’s Porsche, which will be showcasing its entire India range, including the Boxster Roadster, the Cayenne SUV and the ultimate Porsche of all – the classic 911 Coupe. From BMW comes the 500bhp M5 Sports Saloon that will make its India debut at the show. You can also eyeball the phenomenal workmanship of that ultimate statement on wheels, the Rolls Royce Phantom, while the 385bhp Range Rover Sport will wait for SUV lovers.

Performance and rallying go together and the 286bhp Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, a rally-bred saloon with a cult following, will be seen by for the first time in India as well. And Mumbai’s roads being the way they are, many of you may actually be interested in owning the Polaris All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) or the Chinkara ATV, which will also be on display.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the exhibition, Sudhanshu Vats, Vice President, Marketing, Castrol India said, “We are delighted to be associated with this exhibition of high performance vehicles and accessories. Castrol is all about ‘high performance’ lubricants and so our association with this exhibition is a perfect fit. One of the highlights of the exhibition will be the Castrol rally car simulator which is a replica of the World Rally Championship winning Ford Focus car. For the first time, people in India will get an opportunity to get a real feeling of what it is to drive a Rally Car. The simulator is a full fledged car with only the engine having been removed and replaced with the software necessary for the simulator experience. Using the steering wheel, accelerator and the brake, you can navigate the Castrol World Rally Championship winning car on several rally courses across the world, whilst sitting in Mumbai!”

There’s high performance stuff for bikers too, including the Suzuki Hayabusa — the fastest bike in the world. Then there’s the green devil, the Kawasaki ZX 12R, and the Moto GP-bred Yamaha R1. Accompanying them will be Honda’s hot CBR 600RR, which possesses one of the finest 600cc engines on two wheels. Plus, there’s the Harley-Davidson V-Rod, full of the glitter of untouched chrome.

The Performance Show 2005 won’t just be about cars and bikes. On the agenda are high-end accessories to make your car go faster and look better. There’s also engine additives, air filters, nitrous oxide systems, turbochargers and other hardware that up horsepower and performance, all under one roof for the first time.
