MUMBAI: The Disney Channel has launched two new shows – American Dragon and Phil of the Future.

American Dragon is an animated series. It airs on Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm and 6.30 pm and was created by Jeff Goode, creator of the hit MTV series Undressed. Phil of the Future is a live action series and airs from Monday to Friday at 8 pm and at 9 pm on weekends.

American Dragon is a comedy-action series about Jake Long, a 13-year-old Asian-American boy who strives to find balance in his life as a skateboard-grinding, New York tween while learning to master his mystical powers as the American Dragon, the protector and guardian of all magical creatures secretly living amidst the human world.

Jake’s life takes hilarious turns as he juggles his irregular, grandfather-guided training regimen with all the social hurdles of adolescence, including the pursuit of his dream girl — whose alter ego turns out to be his arch villain’s protégé.

Phil of the Future tells the story of the Diffy family, a futuristic family from the year 2121. When the eccentric dad, Lloyd, rents a time machine for their family vacation, which malfunctions, and they are thrown out of the space/ time continuum in the year 2004. The time machine has broken, and Lloyd is having trouble fixing it, so he, his part-robotic wife Barbara, and their kids: fifteen-year-old Phil Diffy and thirteen-year-old daughter Pim, the little menace of the family, are forced to live in the past and pretend to be a normal family in the suburban town of Pickford. The only person who knows their secret is Keely Teslow, Phil’s best friend. Together they deal with the things that every teenager in 2004 must deal with: fitting in.

Commenting on the two new shows, Walt Disney Television International (India) director – programming and production Nachiket Pantvaidya said, “Both the shows aim to bring in the fun-seeking tweener audiences into the Channel. American Dragon and Phil of the future have rated very high on Disney Channels across various markets. It’s a very good mix of animation and live action series for kids who crave for humour and adventure.”

MUMBAI: When classic hindi movie meets animation, the result is a fresh reel of nostalgia with a cartoon twist. Mukta Arts Ltd. and Green Gold Animation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on animated shows and feature films drawn from Mukta Arts’ four-decade treasure trove of iconic IPs. The partnership taps Mukta’s SGM Animation Studio launched in 2025 as its dedicated animation and games arm and Green Gold’s proven track record in building scalable, homegrown franchises. Creative teams from both sides have already kicked off discussions, with the first project currently in development.

The slate will draw inspiration from landmark Mukta films including Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Saudagar and Iqbal, plus character-led spin-offs from those universes. The aim is to reimagine these stories for today’s young, global audiences while preserving their emotional core.

Green Gold Animation (home of Chhota Bheem) founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka said, “This partnership with SGM Studios allows us to apply our experience in building long-lasting animation IPs to a truly iconic film catalogue. Together, we aim to create animated worlds that are rooted in these legendary stories, yet designed to connect with today’s young, global audiences.”
