NEW YORK: Bloomberg, the global news and information organisation, has launched AV (audio-visual) via the Bloomberg Professional Service to all users. Using AV, users can watch Bloomberg Television; listen to Bloomberg Radio; and access stories on demand from around the world in video and audio formats within their desktop environment. Video now becomes another integral tool to monitor the markets via the Bloomberg system.
AV is the new Bloomberg media portal that allows clients to utilise all Bloomberg media functionalities under one umbrella. Users will gain access to live coverage of events such as press conferences, forums, government hearings, seminars plus extended interactive interviews with Bloomberg Television guests, all of these in their entirety as they happen. Bloomberg’s nine global TV channels (VID ) and Bloomberg Radio WBBR 1130 (AIR), allow users to see and hear live and archived news from their desktops.
AV enables users to access multiple information channels via one integrated platform — the Bloomberg Professional Service. Users will now be able to incorporate multimedia functionality including Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg Radio live and on demand news coverage into their launchpad screens immediately.
Clients with news alert filters will receive e-mail alerts prior to the upcoming interviews and will be able to watch them live from their desktops or access it on their own time as an archived multimedia report. With AV, Bloomberg users can watch their local news wherever they are, whenever they wish.
Archived multimedia reports of news conferences, teleconferences and interviews along with Bloomberg television and radio programme guides and guest schedules will be made available through AV.
Bloomberg will also utilise the live technology for the training of its customers in an e-learning environment supported by live video and Bloomberg’s instant messaging, all executed through the Bloomberg Professional Service.

News TV viewership jumps 33 per cent as West Asia war draws audiences
BARC Week 8 data shows news share rising to 8 per cent despite T20 World Cup
NEW DELHI:Â Even as individual television news channel ratings remain under a temporary pause, the genre itself is seeing a clear surge in audience attention.
According to the latest data from Broadcast Audience Research Council India, television news recorded a 33 per cent jump in genre share in Week 8 of 2026, covering February 28 to March 6.
The news genre accounted for 8 per cent of total television viewership during the week, up from 6 per cent the previous week. The spike in attention coincided with escalating geopolitical tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which have kept global headlines firmly fixed on West Asia.
The rise is notable because it came at a time when cricket was dominating television screens. The high-stakes stages of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, including the Super 8 fixtures and semi-finals, were being broadcast during the same period.
Despite the cricket frenzy, viewers appeared to be toggling between sport and global affairs, boosting the overall share of news programming.
The surge in genre share comes even as the government has enforced a one-month pause on publishing ratings for individual news channels. The move followed regulatory scrutiny of the television ratings ecosystem.
While channel-level rankings remain temporarily out of sight, the genre-level data suggests that when global tensions escalate, audiences continue to turn to television news for real-time updates.
