BBC World makes two ‘key’ appointments in Asia
MUMBAI: BBC World has made two key appointments to its Asian advertising sales teams.
BBC World deputy director airtime sales Sunita Rajan was quoted as saying: ‘I am delighted to have two great people join our teams in Asia at a very exciting period of growth for the channel in this key region. Both Sarah, with her considerable experience working for BBC World in London; and Simon with his in-depth knowledge of the market, will be great assets to grow our airtime sales operation here.”
Simon Page has been appointed as the new account director, North Asia based in Hong Kong and Sarah Green has been appointed as account manager, airtime sales based in Singapore.
A press release says that Page will work closely with BBC World deputy director airtime sales Rajan, as part of the pan-Asian sales team. His mandate will be to build on BBC World’s existing client base and attract new advertisers and sponsors to the channel. He will team up with north Asia account manager Pierre Cheung.
Page had earlier worked with the Dow Jones group for a period of seven years. His responsibilities during that particular stint included handling advertising sales for the Far Eastern Economic Review and developing advertising markets such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
The release adds that Green has been transferred from BBC World’s London headquarters where she had a three-year stint as senior account executive. She will seek to apply the skills and experience gained while working in the London market and on PETV accounts to the Asian and Australasian markets.
Green, an ex-ad agency executive, will assist Rajan in driving the channel’s international business from Australia and New Zealand. She will also work with the media buying agency MCn. Green had earlier worked with Zenith Media in London.

Kamlesh Singh receives Haldi Ghati Award from MMCF
India Today Group editor honoured for three decades of journalism at Udaipur ceremony.
MUMBAI- Kamlesh Singh just turned a lifetime of sharp words into a shiny shield because when journalism wakes up a society, even the Maharana of Mewar wants to pin a medal on it.
The Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF) conferred its prestigious Haldi Ghati Award on Kamlesh Singh, a senior editor at the India Today Group, during a ceremony in Udaipur on 15 March 2026. The national award, instituted in 1981-82, recognises “work of permanent value that initiates an awakening in society through the medium of journalism.”
Singh, who leads several editorial initiatives including Aaj Tak Radio, the Teen Taal community and The Lallantop, was presented the honour by Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Managing Trustee of MMCF. The citation highlighted his three decades of contributions to Indian media, innovations in digital journalism, mentoring young reporters, and his popular podcast persona “Tau” on Teen Taal, which fosters thoughtful public discourse.
The Haldi Ghati Award, named after the historic Battle of Haldighati symbolising valour and resilience, is one of four national awards given annually by MMCF. Past recipients include Tavleen Singh, Piyush Pandey and Raj Chengappa.
Other honourees this year included Padma Vibhushan Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Vedamurti Devvrat Rekhe, Treeman of India Marimuthu Yoganathan, Vir Chakra Capt Rizwan Malik, and US-based researcher Molly Emma Aitken, who received the Colonel James Tod Award for contributions to understanding Mewar’s spirit and values.
In an era where headlines often shout louder than substance, the MMCF quietly reminded everyone that real journalism isn’t about noise, it’s about the quiet, persistent work that stirs society awake, one thoughtful story at a time.
