Cinépolis opens its first multiplex in Bangalore
MUMBAI: Cinépolis, the world‘s 4th largest cinema chain, launched its newest multiplex in Bangalore with the Abhishek Bachchan-Deepika Padukone-starrer Dum Maaro Dum. This mall marks the first Cinepolis multiplex in South India.
The multiplex, with a capacity of 1,328 seats, will feature a 3D screen and a macro screen.
Speaking on the occasion, Cinépolis India managing director and country head Milan Saini said, “We are pleased to announce the launch of Bangalore‘s 1st International multiplex. Cinema patrons can look forward to enjoying from a wide selection of movie titles and show timings with over 35 shows screened every day.”
The all digital screening format will enable crystal clear picture and the best-in-class sound technology will make the surround sound close to a real-life experience. In addition, digital technology will make it possible to showcase alternate content such as music concerts, cricket and other sporting events.

Cinépolis has an aggressive India growth strategy and plans to open 500 screens by 2016. More than half of these screens are slated to open in South India.

MUMBAI: Bollywood’s popularity contest has a new weekly scorecard, and the numbers are telling. IMDb’s Popular Indian Celebrities list for this week places Shanaya Kapoor at number six, buoyed by buzz around her film Tu Yaa Main. Naila Grrewal slots in at seven on the back of the returning comedy series Maamla Legal Hai, while Rashmika Mandanna climbs to eighth, riding mounting anticipation for Cocktail 2.
The list, available exclusively on the IMDb app for Android and iOS, tracks trending Indian entertainers and filmmakers each week, drawing on data from more than 200m monthly visits to the platform worldwide.
Further down the rankings, Raaka is keeping two of its biggest names in the spotlight. Deepika Padukone holds 11th position, with Allu Arjun close behind at 13th, as the film continues to find traction with audiences.
The list offers fans a weekly pulse on who is breaking through, who is holding steady, and who is fading. It is a barometer as unsparing as the box office itself.
