CouPals, networking app for couples, set for India debut

MUMBAI: Social media has erased geographical boundaries and brought us close. While there are several apps available in the social networking space, there is none that caters to couples and provides them a platform to connect with other like-minded couples.

As the platform’s name suggests, with CouPals, you can make pals with other couples like you. The app will be launched in a phased manner starting with Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi in January 2021, followed by the next top five metros, India urban and will be gradually rolled out in western countries in the following years.

Through its ‘precision search’ algorithm, it analyses over 50+ interests, age-group, location, community, occupation, details on kids (if any) etc. to serve the relevant profiles and get you connected with the perfect profile(s) each time. Whether you are looking to share a drink or a trip around the world with another couple like you, through CouPals you will be able to network with the right connect and match.

According to CouPals founder Amit Nevrekar, they spotted the core insights and created this networking app after extensive research and several conversations with couples across various target groups on their current relationship, anything missing as compared to their initial years and if so how could they improve it.

The research led to grouping the couples into three types:

Seekers: New in the city or pro-actively looking out for other like-minded couples to travel or explore mutual interests like road trips, theatre etc.

Keepers: Have other couples to hang out but find it difficult to match the schedules during weekends or planning holidays and mostly end up alone. Would love to explore a couple with shared interest.

Loners: Both spend time with separate friends or activities. Looking to add inclusivity and excitement in their relationship.

“Only love isn’t enough. It is equally important to keep the fun, adventure, mystery and spark alive in the relationship. And there was really a need for such an app as the market didn’t have any that focused only on couples,” said Nevrekar.

“Apart from serving the relevant profiles, it would also recommend the options for dining, weekend getaways, tailor-made travel itinerary and more based on interests selection as well as couple tips & therapy through partnerships,” he added.

He is an author of the book ‘The Advertising Mess’ 2012 that talks on bridging the gap for accountable marcom. Nevrekar began his professional career at WPP group’s IMRB.
