‘Aye Vatan Tere Liye’ – a Zee News documentary on Bhagat Singh

On the anniversary of Bhagat Singh’s martyrdom March 23rd, Zee News will present a documentary ‘Ay Vatan Tere Liye’, on the life of Bhagat Singh, one of India’s greatest freedom fighters. Piyush Mishra a well-known playwright and authority on Bhagat Singh will anchor the programme.

The documentary would also have the cinematic elements that are present in the four films that have already been made on Bhagat Singh. It will have scenes from Lahore where he was hanged in the central jail. The programme would be done on a grand scale with Piyush Mishra anchoring in the majestic background of Kotla fort. The fort has its significance, as it was here that Bhagat Singh formed his own party. It will be a visual trail on the life of Bhagat Singh covering unexplored part of his life. From Punjab to Lahore the focus will be on the different aspects of his enigmatic character. Apart from well-researched editorial content we will have sleek production and grand canvas.

Asking the viewers if there any young Bhagat Singh in India today, the programme attempts to seek contemporary relevance of Bhagat Singh. The program looks at the Jaliyanwala Bagh tragedy which inspirited Bhagat Singh and recreates among other things the final attempt of Bhagat Singh to blow up the assembly building.
