Cartoon Network partners Reebok for Toon Cricket 2008

MUMBAI: Cartoon Network, in partnership with sports brand Reebok, is launching Toon Cricket 2008-The Battle for the Omnitrix.


This is the sixth edition of Cartoon Network’s signature and celebrated event Toon Cricket.



The toon characters will share the pitch with Reebok brand ambassadors in Hyderabad on 14 December and in Mumbai on 4 January next year.


This year in Toon Cricket, the two sides will be captained by channel’s superhero Ben Tennyson from Ben 10 and the evil Mojo Jojo, from The Powerpuff Girls. The two teams playing are Bentastic vs. Maxi Mojo.



This year‘s Toon Cricket is a quest to find the true keeper of the Omnitrix (the watch that gives Ben Tennyson, of the iconic series, Ben 10, his super hero abilities). The winner will be announced as the true owner of the Omnitrix.



Turner International India VP and deputy GM – entertainment networks, South Asia Monica Tata said, “Instituted in 1999, Toon Cricket has successfully managed to create a combination of two Cs, Cartoons + Cricket, a winning formula for Indian kids and adults. As Cartoon Network toons gear up to sweat it out with Reebok cricketing stalwarts, Toon Cricket 2008 will be the ultimate sporting extravaganza for kids packed with fun, action and excitement.”


Reebok India Company executive director, marketing Sajid Shamim said, “We are all aware that kids have a constant desire for action. They are the ones who have sports on their mind most of the time, aspiring to be a leading sports star. To be at the game is the only thing on their mind and collaborating with Cartoon Network, we attempt to celebrate this spirit of the child, and support such kids in bringing them closer to their dream.”



Toon Cricket 2008 will be co-sponsored by Nutrine Maha Choco and Parle-G. McDonalds Happy Meal, Boomer, Parachute Starz, Zapak, Berger Paints and Kissan Ketchup are the associate sponsors.



The channel will also launch an on-air and off-air promotional campaign featuring Cartoon Network’s toon characters interacting with the cricketers. An on-air contest will be aired on the channel from 10 November -7 December from Monday to Friday at 7-10 pm.



Each week, ten kids will get a chance to win invitations of the matches, Reebok cricketing gear and sports apparel (autographed Reebok bats and Reebok caps) apart from other daily prizes.



Additionally, kids can also play the toon cricket game on their mobiles and can get a chance to win invitations to the match. A Toon Cricket micro-site will be created that will have wallpaper, icons, video clips of the toons gearing up for the match apart from information on teams that will play ‘Toon Cricket 2008-The Battle for the Omnitrix.

Mukta Arts and Green Gold ink MOU to animate iconic film IPs

Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan to spawn animated shows plus features.

MUMBAI: When classic hindi movie meets animation, the result is a fresh reel of nostalgia with a cartoon twist. Mukta Arts Ltd. and Green Gold Animation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on animated shows and feature films drawn from Mukta Arts’ four-decade treasure trove of iconic IPs. The partnership taps Mukta’s SGM Animation Studio launched in 2025 as its dedicated animation and games arm and Green Gold’s proven track record in building scalable, homegrown franchises. Creative teams from both sides have already kicked off discussions, with the first project currently in development.

The slate will draw inspiration from landmark Mukta films including Kalicharan, Karz, Hero, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Saudagar and Iqbal, plus character-led spin-offs from those universes. The aim is to reimagine these stories for today’s young, global audiences while preserving their emotional core.

Green Gold Animation (home of Chhota Bheem) founder and CEO Rajiv Chilaka said, “This partnership with SGM Studios allows us to apply our experience in building long-lasting animation IPs to a truly iconic film catalogue. Together, we aim to create animated worlds that are rooted in these legendary stories, yet designed to connect with today’s young, global audiences.”

In an industry where timeless tales never go out of fashion, this collaboration promises to bring beloved characters back to life with a modern, animated glow proving that some stories are too good to stay in live-action. Stay tuned for the first animated frame to drop.
