MUMBAI: Television format creator and distributor Endemol has sold Zeppotron?s satirical drama ?Black Mirror? to 21 territories.

Endemol Worldwide Distribution (EWD) holds global television distribution rights and has closed deals with SBS Australia, Hot Vision Israel, SVT Sweden and both Turner and Mediaset in Spain.

EWD is also finalising a pan regional deal in Central and Eastern Europe which will see Black Mirror broadcast in 15 CIS territories including Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary. A further commission in China is in the final stages of negotiation.

Zeppotron executive producer, MD Annabel Jones said; ? ?Black Mirror? is a contemporary drama which taps into our unease with the modern world. Each stand alone episode explores our relationship with technology and our thirst for constant distraction and entertainment. The series was extremely well received here in the UK and I think audiences everywhere will relate to the dark, satirical storytelling at the heart of each episode.?

?Black Mirror? was created by Charlie Brooker and produced by Zeppotron for Channel 4 in the UK. The three standalone dramas are suspenseful tales with a techno-paranoia bent. Some are comic while some are shocking.

Endemol Worldwide Distribution CEO Cathy Payne said, ?It is testament to the international appeal of Black Mirror that so many deals have been struck ahead of its launch at MIP TV. This is a high quality mini series with brilliantly written scripts and an exceptional cast. Each suspenseful episode is packed with observations on modern life that are relevant to audiences anywhere in the world.?

MUMBAI: Television format creator and distributor Endemol has announced that TCM, the film channel owned by media giant Turner Broadcasting, has acquired the one hour drama series ?Hell on Wheels?.

The deal was negotiated by Endemol Worldwide Distribution?s sales director UK and Eire, Gisela Asimus-Minnbergh.

Turner Broadcasting director, general entertainment UK and Eire Jemma Yates said, ?We are thrilled that ?Hell on Wheels? will have its first UK debut on TCM in a deal which marks our continued investment in high quality content for the channel.?

Endemol Worldwide Distribution CEO Cathy Payne said, ?Hell on Wheels? is an epic drama, a character-driven historical series with an amazing cast. We are extremely pleased to be working with TCM to bring the series to UK audiences?.

Produced by Entertainment One (eOne) in association with Endemol USA and Nomadic Pictures for AMC, ?Hell on Wheels? is the story of post-Civil War America, focusing on a Confederate soldier (Anson Mount) who sets out to exact revenge on the Union soldiers who have killed his wife. His journey takes him west to ?Hell on Wheels?, a dangerous, raucous, lawless melting pot of a town that travels with and services the construction of the first transcontinental railroad, an engineering feat unprecedented for its time.

The series examines the railroad?s institutionalised greed and corruption, the immigrant experience, and the plight of the newly emancipated African-Americans during reconstruction. Over time, Hell on Wheels chronicles this potent turning point in America?s history, and how uncivilised the business of civilisation can be.

Hell on Wheels stars Anson Mount, Common, Dominique McElligott and Colm Meaney.

Endemol holds all television distribution rights across Europe with eOne handling all remaining territories, as well as worldwide rights for DVD/Blu-ray, VOD and digital distribution.

Hell on Wheels has to date been acquired by the Sundance Channel for Portugal, Spain, Eastern and Central Europe along with AB Droits France, Antenna 3 Spain, TV Norge Norway and CNBC-e Turkey.

The series will premiere on TCMUK in 2012.

MUMBAI: Television format creator and distributor Endemol has announced that leading talent from its portfolio of US scripted series will be heading to Cannes for the television trade event Mipcom 2011 next month.

Among the international names attending the market as guests of Endemol are Happily Divorced co-writer, executive producer and star Fran Drescher as well as executive producer Peter Marc Jacobson.

Also joining Endemol?s line up this year is Kristen Johnston who has the leading role in TV Land?s latest sitcom ?The Exes?.

Endemol Worldwide Distribution CEO Cathy Payne said; "As we continue to drive our growth in US scripted programmes, we are thrilled to have star guests from these brilliant new series at Mipcom. It?s extremely exciting to be bringing such a high calibre of talent to Cannes and these stars will truly bring the shows to life for buyers at the market."

Inspired by the real life story of Drescher and her ex husband Peter Marc Jacobson, Happily Divorced is the latest sitcom offering from US network TV Land. After 18 years of marriage, Fran (Drescher) is shocked to discover that her husband Peter (John Michael Higgins) is gay. The LA based florist must deal with this bombshell and learn to juggle her new relationships and her ex-husband, who remains in the same house post-divorce.

Now renewed for a second season, Happily Divorced averaged 2.2 million total viewers in its first season, posting triple digit gains over the network?s primetime average.

Also from TV Land?s slate is The Exes - a sitcom which focuses on the lives of three men whose landlord also happens to be their female divorce attorney. Kristen Johnston (?3rd Rock from the Sun?) plays the attorney who avoids her own relationship and commitment issues by becoming immersed in the men?s affairs.

Endemol will announce further talent attending the market in due course.
