Sahara group unveils print media plans

MUMBAI: The Subroto Roy promoted Sahara group, all set to foray into news broadcasting with the launch of a national and 30 odd region specific channels, is gearing up to make its mark in the print arena as well. 
An advertisement by Sahara Media and Entertainment Network in a leading daily, invites applications from Hindi, English and Urdu journalists for Sahara Time , Sahara Samay and Aalmi Sahara. A part of the group's $50 million expansion plans in the field of news and current affairs, the three weekly magazines, to be launched are in addition to its Hindi daily, Rashtriya Sahara.
Sahara Time will be a 48 page broadsheet English weekly with one all India and four regional editions, Sahara Samay, a 48 page broadsheet Hindi weekly with 32 editions and Aalmi Sahara,a 64 page Urdu International weekly.
The three weekly magazines which are slated to serve as a forum to raise people's voice, will account for an extensive compilation of news and people's concern's and issues. This will be done in sync with the 32 news channels from the house of Sahara India Pariwar, states the advertisement.
For Sahara Time and Sahara Samay, the applications have been invited for posts like associate editors, assistant editors, deputy editors, senior editors, copy editors, photo journalists, graphic designers, cartoonists, illustrators, page-designers, layout artistes and secretarial assistants. For Aalmi Sahara, applications have been invited for associate editors, assistant editors, sub-editors, reporters, translators and DTP operators. The positions are based in the major cities of the country.
