MUMBAI: During next year's Fifa World Cup, a Scientific-Atlanta iLYNX video adaptation platform will support live video feeds from 12 German football stadiums to an International Broadcast Center (IBC) in Munich.

The iLYNX platform will provide the critical interface for contribution feeds to support the delivery of unilateral video signals to broadcasters located at the IBC. In India the event will air on ESPN Star Sports.
 
 

The company states that this content contribution application of the iLynx system reinforces the value of the flexibility and modularity it has designed into this digital platform. The company claims that its versatile transport platforms provide the level of reliability and performance that are critical for both day-to-day, routine video operations and for the delivery of high profile, global events such as the 2006 FIFA World Cup competition, which will be viewed by millions of fans around the world.

The iLynx platform will provide the video to SDH/DWDM adaptation enabling transport of both standard definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) compressed video of the matches over a national backbone infrastructure. HD compressed video maximises the number of HD channels of programming delivered over existing bandwidth. Scientific-Atlanta's ROSA server-client network management will be used for the video feeds to manage and control any Scientific-Atlanta equipment/
