MUMBAI: ESPN-Star Sports has won a potential reprieve in its bid for the India cricket rights after the Bombay High Court this morning proposed that the sports broadcaster and Zee Network submit fresh bids to the Registrar General of the High Court.

While ESS' counsel immediately agreed to the suggestion, Zee's counsel, to which the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) had awarded the rights, asked for time to consider the proposal. He said he would respond to its suggestion in the post-lunch hearing proceedings. The judges then adjourned the matter till 2.45 pm.

A Bench of Chief Justice D S Bhandari and Justice D Y Chandrachud are hearing the petition filed by ESS challenging BCCI's decision to award the rights to Zee.
