MUMBAI: Viacom's US cable network UPN has two reality shows in development for its primetime line up. The first one has the working title UPN's The Player.

This is a competition to find America's smoothest operator. UPN's entertainment president Dawn Ostroff was quoted in a company release saying that the broadcaster was looking to capitalise on the success of an earlier show America's Next Top Model.

UPN's The Player. aims at being both funny and sexy. The one-hour weekly relationship series will find out whether a player can find true love in a world of mansions, cool cars, and VIP parties. A group of young, attractive, players will test their abilities, loyalties and charm with the opposite sex to determine who among them is the ultimate player.

The other show which is more niche and totally different deals with the Amish community who were memorably portrayed in the Harrison Ford film Witness. This too is a one-hour weekly series and will take a look into the Amish coming of age experience. This is known as rumspringa which means running wild. During this religious rite of passage, young Amish men and women leave the community to explore the outside world which they call the devil's playground. Then they have to they decide whether or not they want to join or leave the Amish church.
