Netgear completes TR-069 interoperability testing with SupportSoft

BANGALORE: Netgear a provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products and SupportSoft a of Real-Time Service Management (RTSM) software, announced in Santa Clara, California that they have successfully conducted interoperability testing of the DSL Forum CPE WAN Management protocol, known as TR-069, in the SupportSoft Digital 360° Interoperability Lab.

The independent compatibility testing of DSL Forum's TR-069 specification ensures that a service provider's operational support center can easily configure, activate, and manage equipment such as Netgear's DSL CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) using software solutions such as SupportSoft's ServiceGateway.

This enables service providers to effectively control the costs of deployment and support of their CPE device, as well as tightly manage triple play service delivery. TR-069 compatibility provides Netgear DSL CPE channel partners and end-users with the assurance that they are well-positioned to easily and confidently handle the increasingly essential convergence of data, voice, and entertainment services.

"Our service provider customers now have the remote CPE management capabilities they need, thereby giving us the competitive advantage offered by demonstrating interoperability with SupportSoft's solutions and the TR-069 specification," a release quotes Netgear director of broadband services products David James. "We have also benefited from SupportSoft's vast service provider experience in helping to develop and validate our TR-069 compatibility and implementation strategy."

"CPE equipment interoperability with industry standards and software can give digital service providers a competitive advantage by allowing the remote management of CPE equipment that is essential for the delivery of future services," a release also quotes SupportSoft director of product management Richard Caballero. "NETGEAR understands that interoperability is another step forward in providing their digital service provider customers with the tools they need to successfully deploy services now and in the future."

TR-069 provides the necessary framework for efficient and scalable deployment of new services on the DSL broadband infrastructure, including combined delivery of voice, video, and high-speed data services.

SupportSoft lab testing has validated that Netgear's DSL CPE devices and SupportSoft ServiceGateway software interoperate in accordance with the DSL Forum TR-069 specification.
