India TV claims good show with Govinda scoop

MUMBAI: India TV has asserted that its primetime news show Breaking News made it big on 19 October night when it telecast visuals of actor-turned MP Govinda partying with dreaded gangster and Inda's most wanted fugitive Dawood Ibrahim.

According to an official release, the exclusive feature helped the channel to make a mark in the primetime band. In the coveted TG C&S 15 + demographic in the Hindi speaking market (HSM), the channel was able to maintain a share of 24.6 per cent for the week 43, on 19 October, 20 October and 21 October.

On 20 October and 21 October, India TV telecast news features on match-fixing with exclusive information on the India-Sri Lanka series as well as on the political crisis in Uttar Pradesh.

Quoting Tam data, the channel also states that during the prime time band from 9 pm to midnight, India TV was the number one channel on dates of 19 October, 21 October and held number two position on 20 October. During the same period, the market leader Sabse Tez – Aaj Tak garnered a channel share of 25.9 per cent. While, Star News held 14.3 per cent channel share followed by Zee News (13.4 per cent) and NDTV India (11.3 per cent).
