MUMBAI: Consultancy firm Frost & Sullivan has launched a Space and Communications Group which builds on its current operations in satellite communications, aerospace and defense, and information and communications technologies.

The company has issued a release stating that it was seeking to leverage its worldwide base of industry experts. The new group offers strategic and operational consulting services. In addition to market analysis, the Space and Communications group also offers return on investment analysis, acquisition advisory and other strategic analysis for the satellite and space industries.

Frost & Sullivan's research VP Greg Caressi will oversee the operations of the new unit. Says he, "The group is formed around our competencies in telecom satellite operations, manufacturing and launch services. We will complement those capabilities by leveraging our experience in related sectors, such as enterprise applications and vertical market analysis, next-generation wireline and wireless networks and applications, pay TV and video services, videoconferencing services, rural telephony, telemedicine, regional government space programs and emerging space technologies."

Upcoming published analyses from the Space and Communications Group include: assessments of global broadband satellite service markets, government and military markets, regional transponder supply and demand by application and frequency band, satellite manufacturing and launch service markets, and satellite operator competitive assessments.
