MUMBAI: A new digital television channel, called the M- Channel is launched in the UK on the Sky platform.

The European-wide channel will teach people to play musical instruments. It will provide lessons to everyone starting from singers and DJs to pianists and violinists.

The channel starts with rock and pop, including guitar, bass, vocals, drums, percussion and keyboards, and move on to classical music. Along with this, the channel features music videos and music-industry related advice too.

M-Channel co-founder Jonathan Macdonald is quoted in media reports as saying that the channel was born when he realised how many people have musical potential but don't have the resources or guidance to get started.

Musicians performing on the channel include percussionist Evelyn Glennie and classical pianist Freddy Kempf.
