BBC World promotes Amit Upadhyay to head distribution and business development of South Asia

MUMBAI: BBC World, the BBC's international 24-hour news and information television channel, has promoted Amit Upadhyay to head distribution and business development, South Asia.

Upadhyay will be based in Mumbai and will be responsible for developing distribution plans and strategies for the South Asian region, according to an official release today. He will be responsible for maximising and building on BBC World's current distribution base and identifying business development opportunities in the region.

Reporting to Gerry Ritchie, regional director distribution and business development (Europe, Middle East, South Asia, Americas) based in London, Upadhyay will lead a strong and experienced distribution and business development team to build upon the channel's success in South Asia.

Upadhyay has been an integral part of the distribution team with BBC World since 2001 and was the regional manager of network development for the western region of India. Prior to joining BBC World Amit worked with Star TV.
