Viacom Networks Brasil to expand its wings with Vh1 and Logo TV launch

MUMBAI: MTV Networks Latin America, a division of Viacom, has announced the creation of Viacom Networks Brasil (VNB), in an effort to advance its expansion strategy in Brazil.

Viacom Networks Brasil launches its operations with the announcement of two new services -- Vh1, the channel that celebrates pop culture, music and entertainment aimed at young adults,and, Logo TV, Latin Americas first general entertainment pay-per-view service for the gay and lesbian community.

The new services will join MTV Networks Latin Americas existing divisions which include the Nickelodeon pay TV service, a suite of digital pay TV services, international program sales and a joint venture with Grupo Abril, which manages and operates MTV Brasil.

VNB will be led by Pierluigi Gazzolo,who will serve as managing director for the company, in addition to his current responsibilities as MTV Networks Latin America managing director, along with his seat on the board of MTV Brasil.

Targeting the 25-49 year-old Brazilian audience, Vh1 will offer a wide variety of programming for young adults that celebrates pop culture and the music of their generation. Logo TV is the first general entertainment TV service in Latin America to target the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) community. The pay-per-view service will launch as a six-hour programming block on 18 November via Sky Brazil.
