Fox seeks to dwarf the competition with reality show

MUMBAI: The latest innovation around the reality television genre is no bigger than a dwarf. Fox has announced that it will air a two part special of The Littlest Groom on 16 and 23 February in the US.

The show will help a young man who is four feet five inches tall find true love. Initially believing he will choose among women of similar stature to his own, he later discovers, in a surprising twist, that some average-sized women will enter the picture.

Meanwhile reports indicate that the organisation the Little People of America (LPA) is concerned that the show might portray such people in a negative light. The 8,000-member organisation has however decided to give Rupert Murdoch's broadcaster the benefit of the doubt. During research the show's producers consulted with the organisation regarding how little people like to be treated and identified with.

Fox maintains that its goal is not to poke fun of people who are short in stature. It is simply trying to create an entertaining variation on the matchmaking genre. In describing the programme the broadcaster put out the following teaser "Ultimately, he will have to make a final decision. Will Glen decide that good things come in small packages? Or that opposites attract?"

An AP report adds that while there will not be a cash prize for the happy couple, they'll have each other plus an all-expenses-paid vacation to get to know each other better.
