KOLKATA: Any business is prone to technological disruption, and media and entertainment is no exception. Shemaroo Entertainment (Shemaroo) has been one such Indian entertainment brand which has successfully coped up with all waves of changes. It (Shemaroo) underwent a brand refresh nearly three years ago. With a new colourful brand logo and tagline- ‘India Khush hua’, the company unveiled a new avatar. On the course of its transformative journey, it has ventured into a bunch of new initiatives across linear TV, digital media, devices.

Two years back, when the OTT industry started becoming mainstream, Shemaroo launched its streaming service ShemarooMe. Amid the crowded streaming space, it has differentiated itself in this short span with rich Bollywood, devotional, and regional content. Along with banking on its strong areas, it has also built its portfolio over time – including originals, short-format videos and kids content. Amid the country-wide lockdown last year when theatres were shut across the country, the platform also ventured into pay-per-view model with ShemarooMe Box Office.

“As we celebrate the second anniversary of ShemarooMe, we wish to thank our end users in India and across 150 countries globally,” Shemaroo Entertainment digital business COO Zubin Dubash said. “Our varied multi-genre, multilingual content on ShemarooMe has been a favourite for all our viewers and we promise to deliver the same level of entertainment, to all our users globally. For our b2b customers, our unique Content as a Solution (CaaS) model, has helped us partner with over 50 brands across BFSI, telecom, e-commerce, hospitality, ISPs, FMCG and more. Each partnership has been customised for our partners in line with their core business objectives. We are extremely grateful to all our partners for their belief in our promise. With the traction on ShemarooMe, we look forward to 2021 with full gusto as we take ShemarooMe to even newer heights.”

The Indian company has not only ventured into OTT play during its transformation journey but has launched two new TV channels, Shemaroo Marathibana and Shemaroo TV in the promising free-to-air (FTA) space. Indiantelevision.com has joined hands with the company to chronicle its futuristic moves in the last few years led by leaders like Hiren Gada and Kranti Gada on the occasion of ShemarooMe’s successful second anniversary.
