MUMBAI: Delhi-based fashion designer Ritu Beri has designed all the costumes of Oscar-awarded maestro AR Rahman and his entire troupe for the upcoming ‘The A.R. Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home‘.

Produced by Deepak Gattani and Rapport Productions, the concert will kick off at New York on June 11 at the Nassau Coliseum.

The tour will travel to over 20 major arenas and cities worldwide including The Forum in Los Angeles, The Patriot Center in Washington DC, American Airlines Arena in Dallas as well as Weakly Arena and O2 in London to name a few.

Beri will be personally there at the show in Paris on 17 July 2010. "Working with a composer of Rahman‘s caliber has been very exciting and prestigious. I have enjoyed creating and designing the costumes not just for Rahman but the other singers and dancers as well.", Beri told indiantelevision.com. She said that she had designed the costumes of all the dancers, the singers, the musicians,
Hariharan and Rahman himself.

The clothes are elaborate and match the stunning grandeur of the sets and the drama of the live performances.

On this forthcoming tour, the highlight is also the collaboration with creative director Amy Tinkham who is known for creating live musical concerts for a variety of pop-music icons including Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and Mariah Carey.

"The clothes are a theatrical experience that will blend new technologies with traditional elegance. There are over 300 clothes, an amalgamation of youthful modernity and elaborate Indian dress age. While designing for this tour it was important to keep the heritage and traditions of India intact and add a new modernity to the presentation", Beri added.
