Obama film

MUMBAI: An abusive anti-Obama film, made by Mumbai-born Dinesh DSouza, a conservative Indian-American commentator, has become one of the top ten films in the US this week.
This comes amid a political campaign of the Presidential election that is hoting up.
DSouza‘ s 2016: Obamas America, a scathing anti-Obama documentary, climbed up to No.7 in the movie sweepstakes this week in the US on the back of growing attention during the ongoing Republican convention.
Although it had a limited release mid-July, the film had an expanded release in more than 1,100 theatres across the country this weekend and took in an estimated $6.2 million, accounting for a total of more than $9 million in domestic ticket sales, it is gathered.
The numbers compare well, taking into account that it is a documentary with the two top grossing films like The Expendables 2 garnering $13.42 million and The Bourne Legacy collecting $9.33 million.
It may be interesting to note that DSouza‘s documentary, a film version of his earlier written efforts such as Obamas America: Unmaking the American Dream and The Roots of Obamas Rage, has been liked by ultraconservatives but panned by Liberals and Democrats as a toxic take-down of a president full of malicious distortions and falsehoods.
