Whistling Woods launches new media division

MUMBAI: In an endeavour to create global standards in training and learning of journalism across media, Whistling Woods International has launched a new division called Whistling Woods International School of Media and Communication (WWISMC). This unit will officially start its academic session from 25 July next year.

The new programme will offer courses in audio-visual production management, advertising management, public relations and events management to corporate communications.

WWISMC will be a two year, full-time Post Graduate Programme in Media and Communication and will offer a wide range of subjects to choose from all under one roof.

The institute has also tied up with Annamalai University and its academic partner, 24X7 Learning, to team up along with the post graduate programme, a global MBA in Media and Entertainment Management and focusing on soft skills and personality development delivered online by Harvard Business School (Boston, Massachusetts).

Speaking on the occasion, Whistling Woods International Chairman Subhash Ghai said, "In our endeavour to offer the best training to our students we are expanding our portfolio to provide unique opportunities in the field of media and communication. Having such liaisons help students in expanding their horizons beyond filmmaking, enabling them to explore new career options with the best international expertise and schooling. I am hoping that the students grab this opportunity and make the most of it."

The school will be headed by its Dean Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhury. The professor has more than 12 years of media education experience to his credit. He is the former Dean of Symbiosis International University, founder director of Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication and former Executive Director of International School of Business & Media (School of Communication).

Whistling Woods International had launched the first MBA in Media & Entertainment in India in 2009, in association with Manipal University and has successfully graduated 150 professionals till date.
