MUMBAI: The makers of Gandhi To Hitler, Anil Kumar Sharma and Nalin Singh, have sued Anupam Kher for breach of contract.

The case in question cropped up almost a year back when Kher opted out of playing the Nazi dictator, citing that his fans have appealed to him against playing that role. But that has not deterred Sharma from suing the actor of Rs 25 million for breach of contract.

Nalin Singh confirms having paid Rs 400,000 to Kher at the time of signing the contract. After the production work had started (dates were blocked and costumes were designed), Kher announced at a press conference abroad that he wasn‘t doing the film.

Surprisingly Kher didn‘t bother to inform them, Singh claims. Taken aback by the turn of events, Singh tried reasoning with the actor to re-think his decision, but things didn‘t work out.

Kher, on the other hand, feels that the filmmakers are using his name for publicity and, therefore, are bringing up this controversy before the release of the film.
