2nd Jagran Film Festival to kick off at Kanpur on 9 July

MUMBAI: Sudhir Mishra‘s Dharavi will open the second edition of Jagran Film Festival, the traveling film festival initiated by Jagran Prakashan on 9 July at Kanpur.

Other films that will be screened in the two-day festival at Kanpur are Radio Comes To Rampur by Asha Dutta, Sikandar by Piyush Jha, Haat: The Weekly Bazar by Seema Kapoor, Gandhi To Hitler by Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and a documentary Teesra Rasta directed by Anwar Jamal.

Said Jagran Film Festival Director Pankaj Dubey, "JFF has attained a new level this year by introducing a new section of Shorts and Documentary films. We are doing a ‘Retrospective of films by Anwar Jamal‘. Another addition this year is a section on Children cinema produced by Children‘s Film Society of India."

 
Besides, there will be a panel discussion on the second day of the festival, the topic of which is "Does State Funding of Cinema restrict its reach?". Film personalists who will take part in the discussion are Sudhir Mishra, Om Puri, Sanjay Suri, Seema Kapoor and Anwar Jamal.

The festival will then travel to nine other cities like Allahabad, Agra, Varanasi, Patna, Meerut, Dehradun, Lucknow, Ranchi and Jamshedpur.

The Festival will conclude in New Delhi with an award function. The Jury for the festival includes Satish Kaushik, Dr. Ashok Chakradhar, Seema Kapoor, Lillete Dubey and Amit Rai.
